If we have 15 cars or 16 cars in attendance at a club meeting.. I propose for the club to run two 8 car heats rather than three 5 car heats. It saves the hassle of three extra races, good for the meeting time and hopefully it provides drivers with more of a challenge in comparison to a 5 car heat.

F2 Formula to join us at Rugby for example once every two months for some kind of championship (F2 Rugby Shootout?) To try and increase the club numbers / funds.

The club to build a second hire car and four NEW bodyshells to be sorted and available/ on show at EVERY club meeting. In addition to this, I will personally put my hand up and offer to look after both cars. I think as a newbie, having your car strapped up in black tape for the majority of the meeting and constantly breaking down on you isn't going to make that newbie come back again is it  Lips sealed
5  General Category / General Discussion / Rugby Shootout Championship Round Two on: May 30, 2018, 07:06:50 PM
The 2018 shootout championship returns to the iconic 'Rugby Raceway' in just over three weeks time for what shall be round two of four of Rugby's newest club championship!!

Round one seen the current World and Dutch open champion Robert Teuke enjoy a fantastic opening round with an unbeaten result to top the score charts closely followed by Matthew Bennett in second place with Stuart Clarke round off the podium spots.

The championship top spot however is still all to play for with a remaining three rounds to come during the course of the year... Not forgetting that the final round is counting as double points for each driver too!

Unfortunately with the bad weather on the dawn of the first championship round not everyone managed to attend the opening round however hopefully we can attract some more visitors for the event in round number two.

Further details shall be mentioned at a nearer time.

After round one current world champion Robert Teuke leads the way at the top of Rugby's shootout standings with an unbeaten points scored followed closely by ex world champion Matthew Bennett just the 3 points behind the maximum man! 3rd place is myself with a top 3 finish in last night's final joined upon with Ryan TheViking Cattell in 4th with Ben Harding rounding up the top 5.

The random heats selection seemed to work well in my eyes, hopefully everyone will get their fair share of luck in the remaining 3 rounds! Fantastic to see the Clague duo travel down from Urmston to join us on what was a very cold evening which saw some of our regular members unable to make the meeting due to the snow!

Remember the final round is double points so their is certainly all to play for in the next few rounds.. Next shootout meeting is roughly in a couple of months time, more details will be discussed at a nearer time.

See you all tomorrow

Just under two weeks now until round one of Rugby's first shootout meeting of the year!! As I've mentioned already, the meeting is open to anyone within the 1/12th section..

Doors are open at 7pm for a 8pm start consisting of 4 rounds of heats with your best 3 laps to count.. 5 per adult and I think 2 for children.

Food and drink will be available along with spares and we will also be doing a football scratch card with the winner winning 20

I think on behalf of everyone thankyou Loz and the rest of the team at Rugby for running the club for a number of years now.. As proven last night at the AGM it's a very difficult job that no one can really guarantee being their week in week out but hopefully we have enough of us at the club to join together and keep the club moving along for another 30 years! I am already very much on the case trying to put some of my proposals into place and hopefully come the end of the year we will be looking back at 2018 as a very successful year!

Proposal one - Similar to national rounds, let the computer system mix up the heats from one round to the next to give everyone the opportunity to have different drivers in different races

Proposal two - Top six drivers to qualify for the meeting final...Eight car consolation with top two drivers progressing to the meeting final (Something to race for in the consolation)

Proposal three - (The power of social media!) I personally don't mind offering my car .. Obviously we have the club car available... I'm sure a few others wouldn't mind offering either..

I am more than happy to try speaking to a few of the full size F1 drivers through Facebook or wherever, and basically explain what our club is etc.. We should be looking at trying to entice the likes of Nigel Green, Nigel Harrhy, Paul Hines etc Local drivers to come and race at our club say one driver one month, another one the next? Basically spread the word on social media that we got a stockcar driver coming along to our meetings.. Who knows, if we get enough during the year we could even try doing like a top gear star racing a reasonably priced car leaderboard or something  Smiley

Proposal four - (Robbing one of Urmston's ideas here)  Cool Four rounds.. Every 2-3 months during the year (Keeping clear of national rounds etc) Normal points scoring meetings however we should be looking on the idea of maybe a Rugby 2018 shootout series? Open to any BRCA 12th racer, all rounds count.. Overall winner is Rugby's shootout champion for 2018 and wins .. I don't know maybe some race parts off Clive payed by club funds? Trophies, prizes for top five, top 3 juniors etc? (Just trying to start something new for the club and entice some more drivers to come along)

Proposal five - This one really depends on what's actually happening with the kiwi cup for next year .. (Not to fussed about this but..) Maybe move the Kiwi cup and Long track semis and finals to November and during the December meetings maybe look towards fun night similar to Hathern? Balloons on back of cars? Racing around the opposite way? Car swap race? Anything basically...

Liking the idea of a new carpet for sure! Sorry to go on Tongue

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and all the best for the new year!

Over and out  Grin

Delete the unused forum... If possible, can we update this website with the current points, grades, photos to make it worthwhile maintaining?
13  General Category / General Discussion / Re: AGM Proposals on: December 07, 2017, 08:03:34 PM
Evenin' Bingo, nothing has currently been mentioned in regards to proposals on Facebook either so your not missing out! I've only come on here just to check if anything has been said on here also!

Me personally, I think most would agree many forums now are getting a bit out of date  Lips sealed The power of social media takes more interest to most nowadays as you already know! I personally say now would probably be a good time to scrap this forum as you say, theirs only one or two who have used this ever since me n pops had a good long...long...long openly discussed discussion  Grin

We have enough people at the club who have got a bit of a clue with webpages and all that.. Maybe a chance to upgrade the site itself (without a forum) But keep all the information that the club has to offer as a webpage for new people to check out if they decide they want to!

As for the proposals... I have more than enough to throw into the mix... Including probably what is the make or break decision on the future of the club and that is...Who shall replace Loz?  Huh Huh Huh

See you tomorrow night

14  General Category / General Discussion / Upcoming nationals on: April 05, 2017, 04:46:39 PM
For the one's who may not be aware of the upcoming nationals in the next few months, Rugby is holding the next round of the national points championship in May, entry forms are available at the club for people to book in on a Fri night.. whether you are a member or not, all welcome to come along on a Friday night in the next few weeks for some (practice) around the contact capital... As for the following national, Urmston shall be holding the 3rd round of the championship.. I think the end of May (Off the top of my head) Hope to see some bigger numbers within the next few meetings.

I seen Mr Cattell the Monday just gone at Hathern, the grading will be done as normal ready for Friday night... I also have the same problem Ian due to having a 'tispy' facebook usage shall I say  Grin This forum has seemingly had it's time now especially with how social networking has evolved to allow more people to view a certain thing a lot easier than a forum nowadays...Hopefully Ryan can answer your question in the next few days  Cool See you Friday Bingo!
